Corporate Traveler Shares Expertise in Voyager HQ’s Shark Tank-Inspired Travel Pitch Night

Montvale, NJ (January 30, 2020) - Corporate Traveler lent its expertise at the Voyager HQ Travel Pitch night on Tuesday, January 28th at Microsoft in New York City. Voyager HQ, the global startup club for the travel, tourism and hospitality industry, selected the theme of “Women in Travel” for its first pitch night of the year. The objective of the evening was to provide exposure and recognition to female entrepreneurs, as well as non-binary and gender nonconforming technology founders, who are innovating in the travel industry.

Voyager HQ members were invited to submit their pitch deck for an opportunity to compete in Tuesday’s event. Following a review process, five companies were selected to participate. Each gave a five-minute pitch of their product and engaged in a five-minute Q&A session from the judging panel, who ultimately cast their vote on the winner, alongside votes from the audience.

As an ongoing sponsor and supporter of Voyager HQ, Corporate Traveler played a key role in the evening’s competition, with Amanda Vining, President of Corporate Traveler’s U.S. division, serving as a judge.

“This fun and important event encourages entrepreneurs to pursue their ambitions and gives them an opportunity to highlight their successes and business goals, while simultaneously challenging travel industry leaders to think differently, and raise the bar,” said Vining. “It was an educational session for all of us involved. I was proud to be part of the event, and to have a partner like Voyager HQ, that does so much to elevate and revolutionize the travel industry by connecting startup founders with decision-makers.”

The winning title was given to startup Traveling Spoon, a California-based food tourism startup company that connects travelers with local hosts who prepare homemade local cuisine in their homes. Founder Stephanie Lawrence took home a prize package worth over $50k in products and services with Voyager HQ’s partners and sponsors.

Corporate Traveler and its sister brand, FCM, will be among the sponsors for six different Voyager HQ events in 2020. FCM Senior Vice President, Marc Casto, will serve as judge in a February Travel Pitch Night in Boston, MA. Each event brings together 100+ professionals in travel from startups, enterprise companies, investors and the media.
