Frequent travelers are fully aware of the struggles of maintaining a healthy lifestyle when not keeping to a regular routine and schedule. When you are stopping off in different cities, hotels and airports often the quickest or most available food choices aren’t the most health conscious. Additionally it is hard to find the time or energy to squeeze in an exercise routine around early morning check-ins and working late. However there are some forward thinking industry suppliers doing their best to help us keep to a better regime.
Earlier this year the hotel giant launched ‘Five Feet to Fitness’, an in-room wellness concept that brings over eleven different fitness equipment and accessory options into the hotel room thereby making it incredibly convenient for road warriors to maintain a healthy routine.

Five Feet to Fitness also offers a meditation chair for the mindful traveler, blackout shades for restorative sleep, Biofreeze to ease muscle tension, and a selection of protein and hydration beverage options. Hilton's Five Feet to Fitness is currently available at Parc 55 San Francisco - a Hilton Hotel and Hilton McLean Tysons Corner and is coming soon to markets including Atlanta, Austin, Chicago, Las Vegas, New York and San Diego.
In case you missed it back in February we reported ROAM Fitness’ new opening at Baltimore Washington International Airport; a post-security fitness facility. The specifically airport targeted gym plan to open two more domestic locations in 2017 and hope to have 20 locations open within five years, including internationally. Day, month, and year passes are valid at all ROAM Fitness locations.

Just book a signature Fitness Room (you'll have to pay slightly extra) at any one of the 100-plus TRYP locations around the world, and your room will come stocked with an exercise machine (a stationary bike, elliptical machine or treadmill) and complimentary exercise clothing.
Many airlines are also realizing that travelers are happier when healthier options are made available to them in the skies. In a recent health study conducted by Charles Platkin, PhD, JD, MPH, the director of the NYC Food Policy Center at Hunter College, Virgin America came up trumps for the healthiest airline honors followed by Delta and Air Canada. Rated according to “Health Scores” on a scale of zero (lowest) to five (highest) stars — taking into account criteria including health and calorie levels, improving access to healthy options, innovation and the availability of nutritional information — the study ranked 12 popular airlines. Platkin suggests that airlines can increase customer satisfaction and brand loyalty by offering healthier foods on flights. “There is a plethora of research on healthier food improving mood,” he observes, noting that eating a meal or snack that is heavy on fat, sodium and sugar “could make passengers grumpier and create a less than positive travel experience.”
